TEAM
George T. Guernsey, Managing Partner George
Guernsey, co-founder of Strategic Insights, leads our financial institutions work
and manages our proprietary intelligence software tool, Insight Mapping.
With over 25 years of executive and consulting expertise, he has helped global
leaders in financial services, manufacturing, distribution, energy, health care
and communications identify and seize opportunities to accelerate growth and reduce
risk. As a group
executive at two international banks, Mr. Guernsey headed strategy and finance
for First Chicago and operations initiatives at Republic New York Corporation.
He also launched an investment bank into the technology and insurance sectors.
Mr. Guernsey counsels industry leaders, such as Abbey National (UK), Citigroup,
GE Capital, ING Group and National Australia Group, on risk management and corporate
intelligence. Based
in London for 15 years, Mr. Guernsey headed European Management Consulting for
Towers Perrin and worked extensively in Europe and Asia. Mr. Guernsey received
a B.A. in Communications from Yale University and an MBA in finance with distinction
from the Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania.
Alden
R. Taylor, Managing Partner Alden
"Den" R. Taylor is co-founder of Strategic Insights and has over 30
years of expertise in strategic intelligence, general management consulting and
financial management. He
has led numerous client engagements in North America, Latin America, Europe and
Asia focusing on strategy, market positioning, competitive intelligence, benchmarking,
organizational effectiveness, and process improvement. Mr. Taylor's professional
expertise spans multiple industries including: energy, franchising, financial
services, health care, process manufacturing, consumer products, pharmaceuticals
and telecommunications. Prior
to co-founding Strategic Insights, Mr. Taylor was a Practice Leader for Business
Intelligence Services at Kroll Associates and Citigate Global Intelligence. As
the former president of BACK Management and Taylor & Company, he helped clients
improve their competitive positioning, exploit strategic advantages and identify
potential merger and alliance candidates. At Cresap, a Towers Perrin Company,
Mr. Taylor was a Vice President Global Practice leader. At the outset of his career,
Mr. Taylor consulted on accounting systems, mergers and acquisitions and foreign
business practices for U.S. and foreign clients at Arthur Young & Company
(now Ernst & Young). Mr.
Taylor is a frequent conference leader and speaker for several industries and
associations including: EXNET/Management Exchange, Edison Electric Institute,
Planning Forum, United States Telephone Association, and American Management Association.
Mr. Taylor holds a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon
University. He is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management
Consultant. Pamela
B. Volkman, Ph.D., Managing Director Dr. Pamela B. Volkman is a
senior practitioner in the areas of strategic intelligence and corporate investigations.
Prior to joining Strategic Insights, she was a senior managing director at Citigate
Global Intelligence where she managed international engagements in the pharmaceutical,
healthcare, telecommunications, energy, Internet, retail distribution and fashion
industries. These engagements involved competitive assessment, strategy assessment,
new market entry and positioning, mergers and acquisitions evaluations and intellectual
property protection. Dr.
Volkman is a 13 year veteran of Kroll Associates where her extensive experience
in case operations and management focused on complex business intelligence issues
as well as traditional corporate investigation and analysis. Earlier in her career
she provided consultative services to leading law firms relating to a series of
Native American land claims litigation. Dr. Volkman is a former lecturer
and instructor at The University of Rochester. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke
College and holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in History from The University of Rochester
where she was a recipient of a NDEA Fellowship and a University Research Grant.
